I write this while waiting for my client at Royal Ascot, a very popular venue for the ultimate in "customer care".

It does seem to be more of a fashion show than a sporting event, but it is nice to see that people have made the effort to keep old traditions alive. It is interesting to see the variety of morning suits and top hats on show. Indeed, one of two of the hats are reminiscent of the "stove-pipe" favoured by Abraham Lincoln. Summery dresses abound, showery weather prevails.

Still, as I said, traditions are being honoured - good for them.
